start your ninja training here

We have put some useful training together to help you acclimate yourself to ATA classes and help you get the most out of your training.  Start with the white belt video and work your way all the way up to black belt.  Some of this information you will recognize from your orientation lesson.  We know that sometimes we suffer from information overload and this can help refresh your memory.

What to expect in your first 3 Classes
1st Class - Courage
Whew, you have completed your first class!  Congratulations. Courage is doing something even though your are scared. It takes courage to step out on the mat for the first time into a class you have never taken before and put yourself out there.  Sometimes it can feel a little bit silly or awkward in your first class, but just remember everyone else was a white belt in the beginning and had to have the same courage for their first class.  There are a lot of people, that don’t have the courage to try something new like martial arts and you now have the courage to take on new challenges.  Congratulations on taking the first step towards becoming a Black Belt.

2nd Class - Discipline

Discipline is to obey what is right.  Disciplined people know how to follow directions.  By the end of your second class, you should be able to demonstrate that you can follow the directions and structure of classes.  This structure is what allows us to help develop your discipline.  You have learned how to properly listen to the directions in class, by sitting like a master or taking a knee, and how to stand at attention like a Black Belt.

3rd Class - Confidence
Now, you have it.  What is it?  Confidence.  Confidence is believing in yourself.  You have completed your first three classes and are starting to get the hang of it. Hopefully, you are feeling more comfortable and know how to take class.  As you continue to develop your skill set, your Courage, Discipline, and Confidence will only continue to improve.

Classes, Schedule and Star Sheets
The ATA program is designed to be successful in twice weekly training.  Find a copy of the schedule for download on this page. For your first six weeks we would like you to schedule your two days a week.  Put them down in you calendar.  Scheduling your classes will help you create a routine, and any parent that has had to deal with bedtime knows how much better kids do with routines.  This will also help carry the structure and discipline outside of ATA classes. If you need to change your day for a reason during your first six weeks of training, please let us know so we can help get a make up class scheduled for you that week.  After, your first six weeks, then you will have the freedom to come to any of your program’s classes.

Please arrive early for you class – enough time to change, get logged in and be in line ready to go.  If you haven't noticed yet, our instructors start and end class on time.   Announcements will be made at the end of class and also be posted on the television at the front.

Star Sheets are available at the front desk. You can also find a link on below to download the star sheet as well. Remember STARS are for great acts done outside of classes – only fill them out for special stuff, not for every class.  Have your student bring it with them at the beginning of class and our instructors will reward them with stars during announcement time.

If you start to have trouble in classes, please let us know right away so we can try to help you find a solution.  It may be as easy as a short one-on-one private lesson! We are available for private and semi-private lessons.

Refer your friends for ATA Gold

We have worked hard to create a particular culture here at ATA. A positive culture where students and families can learn the physical and mental values that comes with martial arts training.  In return, we attract families to our school who share those same philosophies and values.

Goal setting is what ATA considers the master skill of success.  Did you know that the more public you make your goals the more likely you are of achieving those goals.  The same thing happens when you train with a friend.  Those people that train with friends are much more likely to achieve their goals.

We think that referrals are golden and we want to treat your friends like GOLD. If you haven’t yet, think of a friend that might benefit from ATA training.  Reach out to them and give them this special coupon code “HOWARD” so that they might receive $10 off their trial program.

Oh, and there is a perk for you too.  When your friends sign up for our trial program, you receive a free ATA O'Fallon t-shirt!

Taking your Training to the Next Level

Wow, you are making progress in the Basic Program and feel like you are ready to take your training to the next level. Make the commitment to earn you Black Belt in the Black Belt Club and/or the Leadership Program.

The Black Belt Club is where students set the goal of becoming a Black Belt.  You will enhance your training with advanced techniques, forms, self-defense, sparring training, and weapons training

The Leadership program expands on the Black Belt Club by teaching students how to develop the skills that will make them a leader in life.

Just to explain  the process...  Our instructors are always watching our classes with a keen eye on the lookout for the next Black Belt Club and Leadership candidate. We look for the students that are displaying the passion towards martial arts and students who are improving their techniques with their training.  Once we have identified you as a potential candidate, you will receive a special email that requests a letter of recommendation from your parents and explains the process in more detail.

If you think you are ready, make sure to show it with how you train in classes and to ask you instructor about what you can do to take your training to the next level.
